Terms of Service

1. Service Description

TroveRadar provides a digital field guide platform for outdoor exploration including mushroom foraging, fossil hunting, and metal detecting. Our services include a website (troveradar.com) and mobile applications for iOS and Android, featuring species identification guides, location maps, gear reviews, seasonal calendars, and community features.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using TroveRadar, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use our services.

3. User Responsibilities

When using TroveRadar, you agree to:

  • Obey all local, state, and federal laws regarding foraging, fossil collection, and metal detecting.
  • Respect private property boundaries and obtain permission before entering private land.
  • Not engage in illegal foraging, poaching, or trespassing.
  • Follow Leave No Trace principles and respect protected areas and habitats.
  • Not use TroveRadar to facilitate illegal trade in protected species, fossils, or archaeological artifacts.
  • Provide accurate information when contributing to community features.

4. User-Generated Content

TroveRadar may include community features such as species sightings, field reports, and discussion posts. By submitting content, you:

  • Grant TroveRadar a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute your content within the platform.
  • Retain ownership of your original content.
  • Agree not to post illegal, harmful, misleading, or offensive content.
  • Acknowledge that TroveRadar reserves the right to moderate, edit, or remove content that violates these terms or community guidelines.

5. Mushroom Safety Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: NEVER eat any wild mushroom or plant based solely on information from TroveRadar, including AI identification results.

Many edible species have toxic or deadly look-alikes. Misidentification can result in serious illness or death. TroveRadar is an educational resource only. You must:

  • Confirm all identifications with an experienced local mycologist or foraging expert before consuming.
  • Cross-reference multiple authoritative sources.
  • When in doubt, throw it out. No mushroom meal is worth the risk.

6. AI Identification Disclaimer

TroveRadar may include AI-powered species identification features. These features are provided for educational and reference purposes only. AI identification is not a substitute for expert human identification. TroveRadar makes no warranty regarding the accuracy of AI identification results.

AI identification should never be used as the sole basis for consuming wild species, making medical decisions, or any activity that could impact your health or safety.

7. Subscription Terms

TroveRadar offers premium features through subscription plans managed via RevenueCat and Apple In-App Purchases (IAP) / Google Play Billing.

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through your device's subscription settings (not within TroveRadar).
  • Refunds are subject to Apple App Store and Google Play Store policies.
  • Free trial periods, if offered, convert to paid subscriptions automatically unless cancelled.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on TroveRadar, including text, images, designs, and software, is the property of TroveRadar or its licensors. Species images sourced from Wikimedia Commons are used under Creative Commons licenses and attributed accordingly. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from TroveRadar content without written permission.

9. Limitation of Liability

TroveRadar is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • TroveRadar is not liable for any injuries, illness, death, or property damage resulting from your outdoor activities, foraging, collecting, or use of information from our platform.
  • TroveRadar is not liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in species identification, location data, or safety information.
  • Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for TroveRadar services in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TroveRadar and its operator (Andrew Acosta / 89Pisces) from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service, violation of these terms, or violation of any law or rights of a third party.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to TroveRadar at any time for violation of these terms. You may stop using TroveRadar at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of TroveRadar after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
