1. Who We Are

TroveRadar is operated by Andrew Acosta (89Pisces). This privacy policy covers both the TroveRadar website (troveradar.com) and the TroveRadar mobile application available on iOS and Android.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Location data — When-in-use only, to power map features and nearby location search. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Photos — When you use the species identification feature, photos are processed on-device or sent to our servers for AI analysis. Photos are not stored permanently unless you explicitly save them to your field journal.
  • Email address — When you create an account or subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Display name — If you create a profile for community features.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • Providing and improving our services
  • Species identification and field guide features
  • Personalized location-based recommendations
  • Account management and authentication
  • Sending product updates (with your consent)

4. Data We Do NOT Sell

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. Period. Your data is used solely to provide and improve the TroveRadar experience.

5. Analytics

We use PostHog for website analytics. All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. We do not tie analytics events to your personal identity. We respect Do Not Track (DNT) browser headers.

6. Crash Reporting

We use Sentry for crash reporting and error monitoring. Crash reports are anonymized and contain only technical diagnostic data (device type, OS version, stack traces). They do not include personal information.

7. Third-Party Services

TroveRadar integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Firebase — Authentication and cloud infrastructure.
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes transaction data per their own privacy policy.
  • Wikimedia Commons — Species and location images are sourced from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licenses. No user data is shared with Wikimedia.

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Deletion — Request that we delete your personal data.
  • Right to Portability — Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to Opt-Out — Opt out of data collection at any time by contacting us or adjusting app settings.
  • Right to Correction — Request corrections to inaccurate personal data.

10. Children's Privacy

TroveRadar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. You may request deletion at any time.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of TroveRadar after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
